Easter Weekend

I love when my nephew comes and visits! Andy, Leza, and Brody just live too far away down in Vernal, Ut. We don't see them all the time. But they stayed for a few days this weekend.

The plan had been to come up Friday night, spend Saturday with my family and then Sunday they were headed to Highland with Leza's family, then they would head home to Vernal. This was the plan since they brought the truck... it costs too mush in gas to go back and forth that much. But I love them so much and wanted them to stay that I sacrificed my car for a day. So they came back up and left Tuesday morning.

They didn't get in until late Friday night and then I had to work 9-5 on Saturday. They were out shopping when I got off work so I went and joined them. We all got new dresses. Then we went to Kohl's since Leza needed shoes for Brody's church outfit. While we were there we found the cutest little girls clothes and helped convince her she needs a little girl! But of course it'll still be on her time, and she said if she got a little boy again they'd have to try for another ;) (love you Leza!)
Saturday night Andy and Leza went out with some friends and left Brody in my care! I let him share my banana spilt then gave him a bath, and feed him a bottle and snuggled a little bit while he slept. Then I put him in the play pen and came back to my apartment... which as of late is very lonely and quiet! I need more friends!
Sunday I went to my own ward in my new cute outfit I bought at Forever 21 at City Creek... a red pencil skirt and a black and white frilly top. Then I wore my Christmas shoes with it. After church I had a snack... which I was very glad I had and watched a movie. I went over to the parents house around 3, where as soon as I stepped in the house Tanner started bargaining with me for some of my candy. I helped dad with some dinner preparations. About 4:30 Andy and Leza got home and I took Brody outside for a minute and let Rawley run around. Brody just loves watching Rawley and Moose. It was then time for dinner so we went inside. Easter dinner is one of my favorite meals. We do ham, potato salad, fruit salad, deviled eggs, and rolls (someone forgot the rolls this year). After dinner we went over to 1st dam to enjoy the good weather. Sadly we got there and there was a sign that no dogs were allowed so Rawley had to stay in the bed of the truck the whole time. Brody sure did enjoy all the ducks, geese, and seagulls though.
That night we watched Tower Heist, way good movie btw. I came home around 11 and realized I needed to put my laundry away before I could sleep, bummer.
Monday morning I got a message from mom rubbing it in that she had got a sub for the day and was going to spend all day with Brody. I was suppose to work till 3, but one stylist was sick and we had to cover her shift, I had to work late, and I had been planning to go to the gym. Well it was a busy morning, but the afternoon slowed down so I got off right after 4 and decided to skip the gym and just go straight to the parents.
We went and did more shopping since Leza had got some Kohl's cash on Saturday and she could use it Monday, otherwise it would have been a waste. We got Brody some more clothes and then mom and Leza got sunglasses. Andy decided to be helpfully and was taking the tag off Leza's glasses before we left the store... yup he broke them... now she had to go back and find different ones.
That night we started up the fire pit and roasted hot dogs, Brody loved sitting outside with us in the walker, until he got cold. Andy and Leza decided to go over to her parents to say goodbye. We had rootbeer floats while they were gone. When they got back it was bedtime so we all said goodbye.
It was such a great weekend!!!

Beautiful Sabbath Day

The Sabbath Day... 

doesn't the sound of that just make you want to treat this day a little bit different from the rest of week? 

That's certainly how I feel, but I was raised that way.

Because of my wonderful parents I would never think of going anywhere else but to church on Sunday morning.

It just seems an odd day to me if I miss one of my meetings.

Today in church was a really great day, and I was touched by the Spirit.

All month long our Sacrament Meetings have had the same theme (4 weeks, 2-3 speakers each week) and somehow everyone has taught me something different. How is that possible you might ask... its through Heavenly Father and his love for us. He knew we needed to hear those messages, and he knew through the same topic the messages would get taught.

The topic was Establishing Righteous Patterns.

From the talks today I picked up some key messages meant just for me, 

1: Strive to be better. Find motivation, something that will always keep you moving forward in faith, and coming closer to God! Moroni 10:32-33 ...come unto Christ, and be perfected in him...

Something that is a motivation to me is my family and the eternity that I want to spend with them. To me nothing could be better, but to make that happen I have to have my life in order... I have to be working towards that goal at all times, not letting my guard down for a minute. If I do I know the adversary will be there waiting to drag me down.

2: Keep the Commandments! This is just as much key as the first point. It seems a simple thing, but it can be so hard. We all know the 10 commandments, the ones that were written on stone. Although in this day and age we need to make rules for ourselves that we treasure and follow just like those commandments. When we make those rules we have to follow through on them. What is the point of making them to just dismiss them later, to justify them... why did you make them in the first place then? 

In Sunday School we covered 1 Nephi 16 paralleled with Alma 37. This was about the Liahona, what it was for and how it worked. We may not have the Liahona today, but we do receive guidance and it works just the same, based on our Faith and Diligence in Christ.

Combined Relief Society and Elders Quorum was awesome! We had Brother Barrett speak to us. He is from Bishop Parkers ward, and he is an institute teacher. He talked to us about the Book of Mormon. About reading it and thinking about it and then over time it will be in our hearts. Everyday in this world we are beaten down and our hearts are hardened a little bit, but if we continue to read, even if we don't think it does any good, it does. It softens our heart it teaches us of truth, and gives us an eternal perspective. There are promises on every page and all you have to do is read and find them. It is A Marvelous Work and A Wonder, it is The Word of God, and if we take it in everyday we can deflect the fiery darts of the adversary, we will be able to withstand the temptations, we will learn of divine timing, we will be more patient, and we will be ready for what the Lord has in store for us.

I KNOW THIS GOSPEL IS TRUE.

I KNOW MY REDEEMER LIVES.

I KNOW HE LOVES ME.

HE IS MY FRIEND, MY BROTHER, AND MY SAVIOR.

I hope you can take something from this message. Know that I know it is all true in my heart. 

New Years Eve

So I know I did horrible the month of November... I didn't update my blog everyday... but I did grateful posts on Facebook everyday! I'm i'm so proud of myself for that. 

Now here it is December 31, the end of the year 2011... so much has happened in the last year. Friends have falling in love and gotten married. Friendships have blossomed much more than I would have ever thought. And sadly some have fallen by the wayside. That is all part of life though. Some people you are meant to know forever, while others touch your life for a brief moment and then they are gone, some gone on a happy note that you stay friends, you just don't keep in contact so much. While others fall out in a harsh way and your friendship is gone forever. Those are sad goodbyes, but its part of life, part of growing up, and part of moving on. 

Also in this past year my family has grown! My brother Andy and Sister in Law Leza welcomed my adorable nephew Brody into this world, and he has brought so much happiness! Then my brother Gary came home from His Mission in Texas. After he got home he got in touch with Chelsey who he went to High School with and they dated till he asked her to become his wife! This next year they will be married and She will join our family for all eternity.

The plan for tonight is that we are going to Salt Lake to ring in the new year with some old friends, and hopefully some new ones... a quote I found: 

Right now, someone you haven't met is out there wondering what it would be like to meet someone like you. 

Hopefully I can take this into the new year and meet some amazing new friends. So here's to the New Year... May it be everything it needs to be, may it teach me some new lessons, may it be filled with new adventures, and may I be able to embrace it all. Thank you 2011 for everything I accomplished.

Day 3

My Sister in Law Leza and my nephew Brody!

This is where my grateful heart is today! I'm so glad they are part of my family. Leza joined our family 3 years ago this month. She married my older brother Andy. This past May she had she had my nephew Brody. The sad part is that in July they moved to Vernal... 4hours away. Its sad that we don't take advantage of family when they are around and only realize that we do this once they've moved away. Family is so important, they are the ones we will be with through the eternities and we need to make those relationships into ones that we want to be with forever.

I got lucky today and Leza was in town with Brody since her younger brother flew home from his mission. Leza text me a few days ago wanting a haircut while she was here. Of course I said I would do this for her... as long as she brought Brody over with her. I hadn't seen them since last time they visited which was back in September. The family went to Vernal to visit them over fall break but sadly being manager at my job I had to work that weekend since my assistant manager got married and for some reason thought that was more important reason to get the days off... lol I love you Nicole.

Know that I love and appreciate you Leza!

I Love to See the Temple!

This is to everyone who has made this day possible...

Growing up in this Church we all have one goal... Getting back to live with our Father in Heaven. 

There are many steps we have to take before we get there. When we are just baby's we get a Blessing placed on us by our Father and loved ones. This is a blessing to give us a name, let us feel of His love, and I think, in a way, it starts to mold us. Yes, even at that young age. We then start on a path of the gospel, learning right and wrong from our Parents, we start school and make friends and of course we are influenced by them. We go to Primary and learn more of the Teachings of Christ, and then when we are 8 we are baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We are washed clean of the transgressions we have made, and we are now accountable for our every action. We start to understand the gospel a little more, we are still little children and have a lot to learn, but we are still being molded.

All through this life in the Church we are blessed with righteous Priesthood holders, we can ask our Father for a blessing whenever we need. During a difficult time, when we are faced with change, when we are feeling down and just need some extra love from above. We've always got our scriptures to guide us, if we utilize them right. 

When I turned 12 I was so excited, I got to start doing baptisms for the dead. The first temple I visited was the Idaho Falls Temple. I was also privileged to not only go and do temple names with my ward, but my Grandmother had been doing genealogy and she asked me to be baptized for a deceased family member. That was such a special day, and has never left my mind. I could feel her spirit there, and since my Grandparents worked in the temple at that time my Grandmother was in the Baptistry  when this ordinance was done. There was so much love and warmth in the room. Since that day I have done Baptisms with my wards in the Ogden Temple, Bountiful Temple, Logan Temple, and the Manti Temple. I have not gone as often as I would have liked to, but I have gone more than some are able and for that I am grateful. 

There is another step we have to take in returning to our Father. Young men at the age of 19 accomplish this next step when they decided to go on a mission. When they receive their call they have the chance to go through the Temple. For young women, we have to wait. We go through the temple before marriage, or before a mission at age 21. Neither of these have been an option for me. Even lately I have thought about turning in my papers, but like before I have the sickest feeling in my gut about it. A mission is not the road that my Father wants me to go down. I have prepared for this my whole life, and have thought hard about it for the past year. And now the time is right and in 2 weeks I have the opportunity to go through the Temple of my Lord and Savior for myself. 

I want to Thank my parents for raising me the way they did, and my brothers and sisters for being such an example to me. But its not only them, its true when people say the community raises the child because they have. Everywhere I have lived there has been someone, or many someones who have touched my life and molded me into the person I am today. I love you all. Thank you for everything.

Life In Limbo... not good!

Why does it always seem like I screwed up my life? I try my best to follow the Spirit and I take 5 steps forward and then trials come up and it seems as if I've take 10 steps backwards. Leaving me farther in the dust than from where I came.

Where is this coming from you ask? Well I have a lot on my mind. Mostly concerning my new job, and somewhat the state of my finances. Back in August I got caught up in a scam that left me in the hole about $6,000, plus him getting money that was my own. On top of that I didn't have a job all summer so I was quite devastated and didn't know what was going to happen. I knew where I wanted to work and had an interview set up for Oct. in Vegas with the Steiner Company who hires for cruise line spas. Mid Oct. through email I found out that I was hired and was going to be training in Hawaii. Well in the middle of Nov. I got another email with a packet of information that I needed to fill out, then scan and email back. Did that and now I have just been waiting.

I understand that large companies move slowly, but this is ridiculous! I have currently got rid of my car, since I won't need it, and am still living at my parent, not only to save money, but because I hardly have any money to my name. As much as I love my parents and my family I've lived on my own a couple of times and have my own way of doing things, we get on each others nerves. and now with getting rid of my car I've had to revert to asking permission to borrow one of their cars.

I thank everyone for their support and patience with me. I just wish I could learn what Heavenly Father wants/wishes me to learn so that I can get on with this. What does He have in store for me?

New Years 2010!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Its now the year 2010, nothing has changed other than a ton of new goals/resolutions to work on and more than half of them will get broken.

Its proven that when you have somewhere to report your progress see your results, see what you've done, and where you need to go to finish/follow through, you will more than likely finish your goals. So that is what my blog is going to help me with... following through with my New Years Resolutions. I'll write down my goals and report how I'm doing. I'll do that in the next few days.

Today I'm just going to talk about last night.

I'm usually not a fan of YSA (young single adult) activities, most of the people that show up are people that I have known forever. And thats how it started out. I had no other plans and Veronica wanted to go so I decided I would go with her, and her friend Kristy came up from Orem to hang as well.

We got to the institute and wandered around seeing what all was happening. There were games going on, a movie playing, food, and dancing. Dancing was what we decided as there were a few cute guys. So we started just dancing and Veronica's friend Jeremiah was there and started dancing with us. And he brought his two brothers and a couple friends, who danced with us the rest of the night and celebrated the new year with us :) it was a ton of fun.

Then they decided to invite us over to their apartment for a movie so we said yesand went over and watched National Security and ddn't get home till 3am. It was so much fun! Then we decided to have a sleep over and pulled out the matresses and all crashed on the living room floor.

So here's to bringing in the New Year with old and new friends, family, and looking forward to a new year and all the wonderful things to come!!!

WELCOME 2010!!!

So Happy!

I love girl nights!!! Just going over to my old apartment where I'm considered by everyone the sudo-roommate since I'm over there all the time but I don't always sleepover.

Anyways all my girls left for the holidays... Lindsay to Kansas for 4 weeks. Emily to Riverton for 4 weeks, Cessi to Missouri for 2 weeks, and Veronica to Roosevelt for 1 week. This last year I've realized how much I depend on these girls as well as my family. They are my life and I love them all dearly. This summer living in Kaysville at my Uncle Tom's house was so fun and a great experience, but I found very quickly that not coming up on the weekend threw off my whole week. School was great, but the people there weren't the greatest and they would pull me down to their level. Almost all of them had an LDS background, but none of them lived it anymore. They are all great people but not ones that I would hangout with after school. It was so nice and refreshing coming up to Logan every weekend and getting that life and spirit back.

This holiday with my girls gone I've been stuck at home with pretty much nothing to do, I'm not a big gamer so when Santa brought our family a Wii for Christmas it didn't really phase me. But I got Burn Notice Season 2 so I holed up in my room for a few days. Also once you come of a certain age its hard coming back to your parents house... even worse, getting rid of your car and having to ask to borrow one of your parents.

But Cessi is back!!! And we hung out tonight. It was so good catching up since as she was gone she acquired a new boyfriend who is in our ward and lives right behind Emily's house in Yorkshire Village... the house we window chalked a few weeks ago after FHE. But just talking and chatting made my day. Her fun story and excitement over TJ rubbed off on me and I can't stop smiling. Its so great.

Battleship and a night with Tamsyn

My cousin Arek and his wife Tamsyn, or Tami moved up to Logan this summer so that Arek could go to school at USU as he is gong to be an Engineer and they have a great program here. Anyways they were part of the group that I hung out with this summer. They saved me from studying and were just a blast to hang out with. Through them I met Jenny and Brynn who are also just dolls that I love to pieces.
Anyways, since moving up here Tami gets lonely with her friends not being up here and Arek working all the time. Arek happened to be down south today working concrete and Tami was lonely. She started texting me so I went over so she wasn't alone. We talked then decided to play Battleship, it was very fun! Tami enjoyed it because apparently Arek isn't that good and I gave her a run for her money.
Even though Arek wanted to watch, we put in Julie and Julia since it was late and Arek barely left his parents in Kaysville around 10ish. That was a great movie, different and not what I was expecting, but it was really good. It reminded me of Emily and Lindsay and when we end up cooking together... just throw things together and make something Deliciousness... or Tastiness... lol.
